Tim McGraw and Faith Hill brought their Soul2Soul tour to Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Friday and Saturday nights (Aug 4/5). The two superstars who are country music’s famous couple gave fans a nostalgic look back on their biggest hits together and as solo artists. Kicking off the show with a galaxy-like stage complete with an extraordinary light show, McGraw and Hill were brought up from below the stage. The couple began with performing the 90’s tune “I Knew You Were Waiting,” originally recorded by Aretha Franklin and George Michael.
Tim McGraw then performed “Felt Good On My Lips” with Faith singing BGV’s for her husband. Each performer gave the other background vocals support and strapped on a guitar for certain songs. To compliment their song “Like We Never Loved At All,” the massive screens lit up with a city skyline to compliment the dramatic performance. They also performed a new song that they introduced as “Telluride,” as gorgeous scenery floated in the background.
Even though Hill was previously on a 2-day vocal rest, the singer brought her A-game performing her own hits “Wild One,” “Free,” and of course “Breathe.” The massive screens varied between showing the performers and colorful graphics during their sets. During Hill’s performance of “Window to my Heart,” the singer nailed it giving her all in the vocals. She then went into the Joplin-inspired style of “Take a Little Piece of my Heart.”
During McGraw’s set, the singer took the stage minus his wife to perform fan favorites, “Angry All The Time,” “Good Man,” “Live Like You Were Dying” and his most recent award-winning hit, “Humble and Kind.”
To end the show, McGraw and Hill performed their most well-known duets such as “Just To Hear You Say That You Love Me,” and “It’s Your Love” as photos throughout the years of the couple were shown behind them on the screens. Their performance of “I Need You,” had the two sitting in front of each other in chairs as a romantic moment. The notorious chemistry between the two gave the show a more personable addition. They also walked around the arena into the crowd which made fans even more excited to see them up close and personal. The couple included a performance of their latest duet “Speak to a Girl,” and are set to release their own new albums via Sony Nashville.
The Soul2Soul Tour will also be aired as a TV special on SHOWTIME, November 17th. See more HERE.
