reba picReba McEntire is making her highly anticipated return to television on ABC. She will star in the one hour drama created by Marc Cherry, creator of Desperate Housewives and Devious Maids.

“The drama is described as a Southern Gothic soap opera that is set in motion after a suspected act of terrorism happens at a Fourth of July parade in the small town of Oxblood, Ky.,” THR says. “The FBI sends a cocky agent of Middle Eastern descent to investigate. He teams with the mercurial local sheriff to uncover secrets far darker than either could have ever imagined.”

In an interview with Taste of Country, Reba admits, “We haven’t started [filming] yet. We’re still waiting for the formal go-ahead from ABC. They announced it, which I was shocked about and thrilled to death about.”

She seemed wary to reveal any details about this new drama, but she did say, “Hopefully we’ll be shooting in the fall or January of next year. Before we start doing preliminary planning we need to get the go-ahead.” Via Taste of Country.Along with her newest TV show, Reba has a very exciting 2017 planned. She is set to release her first ever gospel album entitled Sing it Now: Songs of Faith & Hope. When asked how chose songs for her album she said, “I just pick the songs I love to sing! The old ones and the new ones”. Her excitement for her record was evident as she gushed about her process of choosing songs and creating the project. Reba will also be coming to the Ryman for her first show on February 15, and she was very sure to not reveal the details of her Ryman debut.
