Old Dominion kicked off their Bud Light Dive Bar Tour in Nashville, TN, at the Blue Bar on Monday night (July 24th). The band returned with new songs from their brand new album “Happy Endings” releasing on August 25th. Opening it up with the song “Shoe Shopping” which frontman Matt Ramsey explained was from shopping for shoes ‘with his lady’. Ramsey also mentioned that 3 songs on the new project were co-written with their songwriting friend Andrew Dorff, who passed away unexpectedly last year.
Overall, the songs on the new project have that signature catchy style that the band is known to deliver. A favorite for us was “Be With Me,” which has that quality of the previous hits “Break Up with Him,” and “Snapback.” Little Big Town collaborated with them on their song “Stars in the City,” to which Ramey stated how excited they were to have them. Brad from the group then took lead for the first time singing on the track “New York at Night.”
The final song of the evening is also a live song on the project entitled “Can’t Get You,” which has a crowd pleasing appeal to turn a small dive bar into a rockin’ good time. On the heels of a capacity, high energy, crowd at the Nashville Dive Bar Show on Monday night, SIX additional Old Dominion Bud Light Dive Bar Shows will be announced next week. The special shows will take Old Dominion to Los Angeles, Chicago, Grand Rapids, Cincinnati, Cleveland and New York City. Full details to be announced soon.
