Mercy Lounge in downtown Nashville became packed with a large crowd Tuesday evening, as the top 10 finalists competed at the finale show. Each performer gave their variety of stunning performances which were judged by celebrities Danielle Bradbery, Kix Brooks, Jay DeMarcus, Scott Borchetta and fan judge, Rick Smith. The winner won a label contract along with $5,000 at the end of the night.
Ashley Jordan opened the show with a performance of her tune “Weapon,” followed by the Charlie Daniels classic, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.” Bands like Trey Teem and Murphy’s Ford had the club rocking out with their hits “Beach Town” and “Gasoline.”
The Young Fables and twin sister sensation Spinn were a couple of duo bands who left their musical mark on tunes “Completely” and “City Country.”
Before the winner was officially announced, American Idol’s 15th season winner and Big Machine Label Group’s recording artist Trent Harmon performed several songs including his current single “There’s A Girl” and a country rendition of Sia’s “Chandelier.”
South Louisiana native Todd O’Neill rocked the night away with “I Got Your Number” which landed him in the NASH Next winner’s seat and closed out the competition show with a performance of “Part Time Livin.”
“It’s not work to me at all. I do so many gigs a year, and I love it. I wouldn’t change it for anything,” O’ Neill said.
Artist judge Danielle Bradbery spoke of her time in the hot seat from the music reality competition show The Voice. “I sound like a broken record, but it’s really cool to sit here now to be a judge,” Bradbery said. “I was over there about two or three years ago. I kind of know what they are feeling and I want to be as positive as possible.”
Kix Brooks’ takeaway on the evening was how good all of the acts were.
“It’s interesting because today in the studio, people can manipulate their voices, their bands and everything you do. ” Brooks said. “This is where the rubber meets the road.”
