After a strong debut, Kelsea Ballerini’s sophomore album Unapologetically is quickly rising to the top.
The intimate and vulnerable display of of loss, life, and love, was produced by Forest Glen Whitehead and Jason Massey along with Shane McAnally, Lindsay Rimes, and Jimmy Robbins on select tracks. The album is composed of 12 tracks all written or co-written by Ballerini.
Launching at #3 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, #7 All-Genre, and surpassing 44K copies sold in its first week, Unapologetically has already claimed #1 in Australia and the UK.
Critics and fan alike have been praising Ballerini’s unapologetically sophisticated second chapter. Rolling Stone Country refers to Ballerini as “…a reflective and decisive songwriter with hard-nosed grit and sunny hooks to match.”, while CMT acknowledges the “beautiful vulnerability” and Knoxville New Sentinel says “…it feels like you’re reading pages out of her diary.”
Ballerini is also highlighted in People Magazine’s “Picks” (11/13 issue) and Cosmopolitan’s December issue, in addition to a recent episode of Netflix’s Chelsea. Watch as Ballerini and Chelsea Handler hilariously discuss Unapologetically over a multi-course meal of chicken nuggets – Ballerini’s “love language.”
Obtaining even more of a national television spotlight, Ballerini will next perform her current lead single “Legends” on LIVE with Kelly and Ryan on Tuesday, November 21 (local times and channels), before ABC’s season 25 finale of Dancing with the Stars (8/7c) that night. Ballerini will continue to celebrate the holiday season with “Children Go Where I Send You,” as featured on The Star: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack from Sony Pictures Animation’s The Star in theaters Friday (11/17).
