Eli Young Band – Fingerprints Review
Written by: McKennan Henninger
The Eli Young Band has exceeded all expectations in new album “Fingerprints,” releasing Friday (June 16).
Lead singer Mike Eli co-wrote the heartfelt ballad “Skin & Bones” about his wife and her role in his life. Eli said of his wife in a press release, “We’ve become so intertwined, it’s hard to say where I end and she begins. I’ve noticed certain things that I do and I am, simply because of her.”
He sings, “She’s in my skin and bones / She’s grace and glory / She’s the back roads home / She’s a long story / The one goodbye that I can’t even imagine / She’s a well thought out plan and I don’t know how it happened.”
With the band’s signature catchy lyrics in songs like “Never Again,” “Never Land,” “Drive,” “Heart Needs a Break,” and album title track “Fingerprints” the songs are sure to get in listeners’ heads.
“Old Songs” references the nostalgic experience of hearing those songs that take you back to specific times in your life.
Previous country radio single “Saltwater Gospel” is still the perfect summer song. With lyrics like “Hey I go down and sink my feet in the water / And I soak up that sun and I watch it set / Yeah, I can feel the power of the saltwater gospel / I’m as close to God as I can get,” nothing but good vibes are being sent to listeners through the airwaves.
It’s no secret that the Eli Young Band knows who they are as musicians, but they further prove that throughout the entirety of “Fingerprints.” Listeners will be eagerly putting this album on repeat.
The Eli Young Band is set to play the Opry on June 21st. For more information on shows and tickets click here.
